We went to Gralha, our local hill and the wind was spot on and it was full of people, so was the perfect opportunity to try the BGD Lynx.
Originally developed for the Redbull X-Alps in 2017 with the BGD Cure as a base the Lynx evolved to as the stand alone wing of today. It uses light materials and minimalist design to keep it light. High aspect ratio and thin profile make it super slick gliding through the air, meaning it is fast!
I was quite cautious as I like to progressively get to know a wing or piece of equipment but first impressions are very nice indeed.
Gemma did a stellar job on this one capturing images from different angles :)

Ideally I'd like to groundhandle in a windtunnel but this is the next best thing we could find :)
I've always wanted to do this and with a lot of help from Gemma's help we finally managed to take a first step and play around with tell tales to try to visualise airflow around a paraglider wing.
I was surprised that we even managed to catch a little wingtip vortex with our umbrella contraption :)

Couldn't find a better name but it felt like too much stuff happened on this video!
Gemma groundhandles and finally flies but also gets attacked by dogs! I try a new simplified camera setup for dune soaring. First flight of the new year and we meet a channel subscriber. We try Piggy back groundhandling. I do some high-speed runs on the Seed and we investigate a massive rock fall from the air!

Decelerating the accelerator: the innovative NOVA Speedbrake Riser
The NOVA Speedbrake Riser is the first three-liner riser which permits the glider to be accelerated as well as decelerated. It brings an end to pulling the C-lines, which killed performance.
Admittedly, we are not and have never been fans of the C-handle, which allows dive and directional control. Pulling the C-lines on a three-liner results in a deep crease, which markedly affects performance.
We developed the NOVA Speedbrake Riser in conjunction with our team pilot Robert Schaller, an applied science student and enthusiastic cross-country pilot. The B and C risers are connected using a flexible strap. If the C-risers are pulled back, the B-risers are also reduced in length.
The result is a perfect, crease-free deceleration. The Speedbrake Riser provides new possibilities for performance-orientated XC-pilots!

The HELICO is the most basic trick we have and it is the base of many other tricks! But it's really tricky to learn even though it's often the first one you do learn. It will take some time to master it!
The TWISTER could also be called Helico to Helico, because it is basically one Helico in one direction connected to another Helico to the other direction. It’s one of my favourite tricks and it's also quite tricky to learn. It's usually my warm up trick!

Der HELI (auch Helico) ist der grundlegendste Trick, den wir haben, und er ist die Basis für viele andere Tricks! Aber er ist wirklich schwierig zu lernen, auch wenn er oft der erste ist, den man lernt. Es dauert einige Zeit, bis man ihn sicher beherrscht!
Der TWISTER könnte auch Heli to Heli genannt werden, weil er im Grunde ein Heli in eine Richtung ist, der mit einem weiteren Heli in die andere Richtung verbunden wird. Er ist einer meiner Lieblingstricks und auch ziemlich schwierig zu lernen. Das ist normalerweise mein Aufwärm-Trick!

Everything that we love about free flight has evolved from the same roots, yet now we have the opportunity to engage in it through so many different avenues. ‘Inspired’ brings us into the lives of a few pilots – some you know, some you don’t – who have immersed themselves in the various forms of flight, personally and professionally. We visit each pilot in their home environment where they share with us their local playground, and the source of their inspiration. We vol-biv into the wild and roadless California Sierra under a 5000m cloudbase. We discover the origins of a world record holder’s life altering decision to make paragliding her sole focus. Speeding through the southern Alps provides a meditative release for one professional flier and another is intentionally homeless, circling the globe year after year. In the end we see that ‘paragliding’ is now so multi-faceted that one lifetime is barely enough to absorb all of the experiences it has to offer.
Though the ways in which these pilots express their dedication is different, their underlying passion is similar, and it is unifying. As pilots, we share something that brings us together on a deeper level. We like to think that we are all equally inspired by nature, and driven by the elements.
