There wasn't a lot of light so the images aren't very crisp but still find it mesmerizing to watch how paragliders twist and turn, fill up and collapse in slow motion.
It was a very tricky day, was way too windy to ground handle and we were in the lee of trees. That made windspeed a bit lower but very turbulent indeed making for some very interesting shapes.

This will very likely be the biggest match cube in the world as soon as it's built!
A couple of years ago I make a match cube and thought it was a really cool thing to look at and handle, some time later i made a bigger one with the longest matches I could find (the one I show at the beginning of the video).
Then about a year ago me and Gemma found these wood sticks abandoned in a lake's shore, they were everywhere litered across some 200 meters of coast. We picked them up and brought them back. They were full of water so must have weight around 60-70kgs!
They have been drying since then and waiting for the right project to come along. I've had the idea of making giant matches with the sticks to make a cube and today was the day!
There was a lot of thinking and calculating as well as thinking of every step in order to optimize the process. In the end, even with Gemma's help doing some drilling it took me around 6 hours to get everything done.
Next time I'll be screwing the heads and sticks together and hopefully assembling the biggest Match cube... IN THE WORLD!

My friend Dave "3D" Allen was kind enough to print the ship for me and then I went through as much sanding and weathering as I could and layering the coats on.
In the end it turned out OK but I'd for sure like to do this again and try to do it better.

My hand tools have been all over the place for a while and I had some reclaimed plywood and other parts kind of in the way so I thought I would put it all together in the shape of a toolbox or tool chest.
I started by measuring and adjusting the drawer sliders so that they were all the same length. Then based on that and the plywood I had I made a quick CAD model to define the look and dimensions and also to make sure I had enough wood.
Then I cut all the pieces to size and glue them together with rabbets and dadoes. It's really nice to work with good quality plywood :)
Then I fitted the drawer slides and this was the trickiest part. They didn't come out perfect but was good enough for my first try.
I finished by doing some drawer faces out of reclaimed flooring and put down stickers from all the makers I met at Makers Central back in May.
Now I'm one step closer to having a somewhat tidier workshop :)

I've knitted when I was a kid and my grandma all her life, so when I saw some cheap funky yarn at the store decided to give it a go.

Classic yearly tradition of carving up some pumpkins. I always feel silly carving something that is "spooky" or "scary" so I ended up turning it into an engineering project! ahah.
I think they turned out ok :) not brilliant but not terrible either. It's funny how even a poorly carved pumpkin look much better when you yurn the lights of and light a candle inside :)

Today was hard! It was way too windy for Plan A so I ended up having to scramble and do Plan B.
Went out to the Peak district as it was very windy and the clouds where going by fast! This meant that filming them was quite hard too because my tripod is very flimsy.
Really really need a decent tripod sturdy tripod.

I need a break... so today I decided to make a simple project.
Funnily enough I manged to make the cube, film, edit and post online all under 4 hours and I think the video turned out nicer that some that I've spent more than double the time on.
