Soon it will be 30 years since the founding of ADVANCE - in December 2018 in fact. A long time with many formative events; and also the moment to take a look at the past. Here is a look back. Almost 10 years ago Christoph Frutiger made an ADVANCE film which set new standards for paraglider filming; a film which today still inspires us and our competitors. This was a time when there were no drones and Social Media channels.

The reason for this film was the introduction of the EPSILON 6. “Explore New Skies” was the slogan for this product. Responsible for the flying were ADVANCE chief test pilot Kari Eisenhut and a young Chrigel Maurer. The results are breath-taking sequences in the atmospheric desolation of the high Berner Oberland, the home of ADVANCE. The pictures still give you goose bumps today.

With the skywalk AGILITY SYSTEM you can switch between the two brake line geometries “Comfort-Mode” and “Sport-Mode”. The MESCAL6 reacts differently to brake input:


In “Comfort-Mode” the MESCAL6 is the perfect flight school glider. The brakes accentuate the center of the wing: Brake input is directly applied and the canopy turns flatter – perfect for flights on training slopes and the first mountain flights. Student pilots can concentrate fully on the unknown medium of air.

In "Sport-Mode” the handling becomes more lively and agile. The brakes accentuate the outer wing: the glider banks higher, the control pressure in the effective range is lower and you can optimize your bank angle in every position while turning – experienced pilots fly high wingovers with ease. The conversion between the two modes takes only a few minutes and can easily be done by the pilot without any tools.
