The NOVA MENTOR 5 LIGHT is is a lightweight EN/LTF-B paraglider with an amazingly small pack size and high performance in its class. Four sizes cover a weight range of 55 to 100 kg with a canopy weight of 3.35 to 4.05 kg. The wing is a true all-rounder and offers pilots the freedom to undertake nearly every possible type of paragliding: cruising around local sites, paragliding holidays, hike & fly, vol-biv and ambitious cross-country flights.

We spent the day with our Red Bull X-Alps athlete Markus Anders (Team GER2). Markus is originally from Stuttgart but moved to the Chiemgau in January to work for skywalk and train for the Red Bull X-Alps 2019.

We hiked up to the Kampendwand, which is one of this years turnpoints in the event, and had the chance to ask a few questions.

GTO -"Gran Turismo Omologato"- was a term originally used by Ferrari, and later by Pontiac. GTO denotes a race car that has been made street legal. The Boomerang GTO was conceived in this spirit. Gin's aim was to design a wing with a performance level that had never before been reached, but that would still be certified. Like with its predecessor, the Boomerang Sport, no compromises on handling and safety were allowed.

This was awesome! There's something special about working on something for so long and finally getting to use it.

I've upgraded the electronics and built an enclosure so that the tension measuring system is portable.
I'm using two different channels and this system can go up to 4.

I used a kite to make testing easier and for the most part it worked quite well.
It highlighted a few issues I suspected would be there and this feeds well into the next phase of the project which is to develop better sensors.

I know I know, the Dudek Run&Fly is lighter (not by much) but if you didn't know about paragliders isn't this just amazing!? Imagine telling it so some random person on the street. They can leave the ground and fly on something that weighs less than the clothes they have on!? Crazy!

The Ozone XXLite 2 and F*Lite harness is all you need to fly and all together only weights 1.5kg! Wing and harness combined! That's how much water you should drink a day!
