Aspect ratio in aircraft define a lot of their performance and maneuverability. In paragliders the same happens but perhaps to an even bigger extent as the very structure behaves very differently from low to high aspect ratio wings.

Gemma's first proper flight in a while and she had a blast. The Salgado takeoff is on a small north-facing hump in the middle of a long NW facing ridge.

At first the wind was a bit too light and her technique wasn't quite dialed in but on the second attempt she managed to stay up for half an hour on a mix of dynamic and thermic lift.
Awesome little flight.

I've seen people twist around when flying to look backwards or just for fun and I've been wanting to try that move.

Well this day was the day. The ridge was almost empty, there was plenty of smooth lift and a safe wing and this is what I found.

It takes a considerable amount of force to get twisted half a turn and to stay twisted. As soon as you let go of the risers the wing wants to spring you back to your normal position immediately!

However if you go for the full turn or more that untwisting force is much smaller and it's harder to get out of it. In a controlled environment I think it's really good to try these things as you learn what to expect in an emergency.

This year we decided to do something different and drive down to Arrábida. It's the "Portuguese Oludeniz" but 5x shorter :)

This flight was amazing. Sunny skies, the first thermals and amazing views. Managed to make it to the Lose hill and then glided down to road between Castleton and Hope.

After 3 attempts I finally got there! I've build, as far as I can tell, the largest match cube in the world with giant matches.

I've done two cubes before, one with regular matches and another with the longest matches I could find, so for this one, I had to make my own matches.

Today was hard! It was way too windy for Plan A so I ended up having to scramble and do Plan B.

Went out to the Peak district as it was very windy and the clouds where going by fast! This meant that filming them was quite hard too because my tripod is very flimsy.

Really really need a decent tripod sturdy tripod.

I've knitted when I was a kid and my grandma all her life, so when I saw some cheap funky yarn at the store decided to give it a go.

It's was really fun, one single line and lots of loops, 2 knots and not cuts or trickery :)
