Big ears increase your sink rate and are used as a descent technique in paragliding.
Practice them somewhere safe so that you know how they work when you need to use them in a sticky situation.

The bad weather continues and today we got up at 7am as that was the only weather window where it might be groundhandleable with a full size wing.

Gemma is clearly a lot better at not over-reacting on the brakes, digging her heels in and making the best of tough conditions!

Passive chasecams wobble quite a bit and 3axis gimbals are a bit too expensive and fragile so I thought I would build a prototype of a chasecam that would be mechanically stabilized using an IMU and some servos connected to control surfaces whilst still being rugged.

Worked kind of ok but to test it I would need to build one lighter, with a lot more drag and perhaps software that is more easily customizable. Still fun though :)

I've known Theo since I've started flying. He's one of the local pilots in my area and one of the most enthusiastic and fun to fly with.

He started flying at 14 and with each year his skills went from very good to even better. After only a handful of competitions under his belt a week ago he found himself leading the European Paragliding Championships in Montalegre Portugal. A few tasks later and he went all the way to secure 1st place with true class.

By far one of the most talented, humble and fun pilots I know, and it was a pleasure to interview about how he got to where he is, how the comp went and his plans for the future.

Last Saturday was great fun. We arrived late at Mam East face and everyone already had nice long flights so there wasn't much congestion. There was a nice breeze and without a cloud in the sky due to an inversion at around 2000ft.

For some reason the lift band was very wide so it was a very spacious flight :)
Me and Gemma took the opportunity to use the hill to get some good height and then go in front of the hill and play with the wing to get used to it.

I've been wanting to play with the acoustics art for a while. Today was the day that I started, but it didn't go to plan at all.

The idea was to have a constant stream of paint falling on a piece of paper and as the paint goes past a playing speaker the paint gets defected, in effect going around in a spiral osciloscopic type deal.

It didn't work because:
- It was difficult to get the pain down the tube
- the paper would get drenched
- the end of the tube would be too far away from the paper
- the speaker wouldn't move the paint enough
- i couldn't draw a perfect spiral with the weight
- etc etc etc

It was really fun to try to figure this stuff out and hope to revisit it again in the future.
