We've moved to Portugal over a year ago and even though we've been to this beach dozens of times Gemma has never been able to fly it as it's very technical and small, especially with traffic.

So it was great to see that on this day, without warning and with perfect conditions she just tried it one again and it worked! She managed to work the lift in such a way to stay up for a long time!

I've been playing around with the idea of making a collapse alarm for a while so now that line tension measurements are more reliable with the new sensors looked right the right time to do it.

It's a pretty simple system that monitors line tensions and beeps a buzzer if some conditions are met. It has taken a long time to get to this stage as I work on it on and off and with the weather not always playing ball.

Also I've done a lot more coding at the beach than what I would like but hey, next time will be better :)

The wind was just perfect to launch and land, so Gemma finally worked up the courage to break her flying lull and get in some take off and landing practice.
The takeoff was a bit busy at times but it worked great to get her confidence back and getting to enjoy being up there.

A paragliding tutorial video on how to handle big collapses that end up with a large cravat.

Why not the stabilo?!?! Well, cause there's no time. Reaching for the stabilo will have you put your eyes in the wrong place, your weight on the wrong side, and have you a day late and a dollar short.
