With the BANTAM, we are introducing our first pure-bred miniwing. It is perfect for para-mountaineers who prefer a flight with plenty of speed to a descent on foot. The wing is super-light with a tiny packing volume, easy to launch, has an astounding glide performance and is much safer to land than a single-surface wing.
Its excellent performance was demonstrated at the Dolomitenmann 2019, when Chrigel Maurer and his team won the overall ranking. NOVA offers the BANTAM in sizes 10, 12 and 14. At only 1.65 kg (size 12), this makes the BANTAM the lightest certified non-single-surface wing on the market (as of October 2019).

Climb high peaks and instead of descending on foot, why not opt for a few barrel rolls on your way to the valley. If that’s your thing and you have the BANTAM in your pack, you can experience the mountains more intensively from now on. The low aspect ratio and extremely short lines make the launch simpler and the handling more direct.
Even at trim speed, the BANTAM is fast and the speed increase at full acceleration is impressive. Nevertheless, the stability in turbulent air remains remarkably high. Even if you are not a Dolomitenmann, Rise&Fall, etc. competitor, the BANTAM can help you achieve your hike & fly personal best. And the best thing… in comparison to single-surface gliders, its flare characteristics are a particular advantage of the BANTAM. This offers a safety reserve even during adverse landing conditions.
Hohe Gipfel erklimmen und bei Gelegenheit den Abstieg gegen ein paar Barrel-Rolls in Richtung Tal eintauschen. Wer so tickt, und den BANTAM im Gepäck hat, erlebt die Berge ab jetzt intensiver. Die geringe Streckung und die extrem kurzen Leinen helfen beim Start und ermöglichen ein sehr direktes Handling.

After-Work-Hike & Fly of the NOVA Team
Philipp Medicus (Head of R&D), Luis Depping (Product Manager Harnesses) and Paul Nagl (Service Manager and flying with the helmet camera) fly with their BANTAMs from the Bettelwurf after work. The Bettelwurf is a mountain in the Karwendel range, not far from the NOVA headquarters in Terfens and outside the core zone of the nature reserve. Attention: clearance from the tower of Innsbruck Airport is mandatory before take-off.

OLE’S 40% BLOCKBUSTER
On Norway's national day, 17th of May, @Ole Dalen and his paragliding buddies initiated a great promotion for the paragliding sport in their country.
He wrote us: “We could convince the popular Norwegian singer-songwriter @Adrian Jørgensen to paraglide with us after he had finished an open air concert on the flat top of Breitinden, one of the famous Seven Sisters Mountains in North-Norway. To our knowledge, this peak has never been flown before. Adrian had also never been paragliding before as you clearly can see. During his tandem flight Adrian Jørgensen was singing – well, somehow “singing” – the national anthem.”
The resulting video was shown several times on Norwegian TV. In total about 2 million Norwegians watched it – the equivalent of 40% of the entire population in Norway. How much would this be in your country?

Am norwegischen Nationalfeiertag, dem 17. Mai, gelang @Ole Dalen mit seinen Fliegerfreunden eine großartige Promotion für den Gleitschirmsport in Norwegen.
Er schrieb uns: "Wir konnten den beliebten norwegischen Singer-Songwriter @Adrian Jørgensen überzeugen, mit uns im Tandem zu fliegen, nachdem er ein Open-Air-Konzert auf dem flachen Gipfelplateau des Breitinden, einem der berühmten Sieben-Schwestern-Berge in Nord-Norwegen, beendet hatte. Unseres Wissens nach wurde von diesem Gipfel noch nie gestartet. Und auch Adrian ist nie zuvor mit dem Gleitschirm geflogen, wie man leicht erkennen kann. Während seines Flugs sang der Musiker die Nationalhymne – wenn man das wirklich „singen“ nennen will."
Das dabei entstandene Video wurde mehrmals im norwegischen Fernsehen gezeigt. Insgesamt sahen es etwa zwei Millionen Norweger – entsprechend 40 Prozent der Gesamtbevölkerung. Wie viele Leute wären das in deinem Heimatland?

Chrigel Maurer does it again! He is the first athlete to reach the goal in Zell am See at 6 pm on day 9. Therefore he wins the Red Bull X-Alps for the 7th time.
Of course, Chrigel is not a NOVA pilot. Though we were there to celebrate the winner. Hats off to this great performance!

Was haben ein X-Alps Zweileiner, ein Schulungsschirm und ein Acro-Schirm gemeinsam? Was unterscheidet sie?
Philipp Medicus, Leiter der Entwicklung bei NOVA, beleuchtet die Synergien bei der Entwicklung dieser unterschiedlichen Gleitschirme. Er zeigt überraschende Parallelen, die trotz der vordergründigen Gegensätze bestehen, und erklärt, weshalb ein Schulungs-Schirm von der Entwicklung eines Acro-Schirms oder eines Zweileiners profitiert.
Die NOVA Insights sind eine Serie von Vorträgen, Diskussionen, Workshops usw. Sie finden online statt und richten sich an ALLE Gleitschirmflieger – egal, welche Schirmmarke sie fliegen. Hier geht es nicht um Marketing, sondern um Wissens- und Erfahrungsvermittlung sowie vor allem um das „Lustaufsfliegenmachen“. Die NOVA Insights dauern jeweils ca. eine Stunde. Es ist explizit erwünscht, dass die Zuhörer mitmachen und Fragen stellen.

Since the founding of the NOVA Pilots Team sub-team in July 2020, three female and seven male pilots have been climbing and flying the highest and most beautiful mountains in the Alps under the name NOVA Climb & Fly Team (CFT). The focus is on the passion for para-mountaineering, i.e. the combination of paragliding with climbing and alpine touring.
NOVA staff members Luis Depping (R&D harnesses) and Paul Nagl (Service, Quality Assurance) are passionate mountaineers. When NOVA expanded its product range with two lightweight mountain gliders (the DOUBLESKIN https://www.nova.eu/en/gliders/doubleskin/ and the BANTAM https://www.nova.eu/en/gliders/bantam/), and motivated mountaineers actively approached NOVA, the idea of the Climb and Fly Team was born. That is now more than a year ago.
This video shows the weekend when the CFT members got to know each other a year ago at the Schüsselkarhütte (Leutasch, Austria).

Seit der Gründung des Sub-Teams vom NOVA Pilots Team im Juli 2020 besteigen und befliegen drei Pilotinnen und sieben Piloten unter dem Namen NOVA Climb & Fly Team (CFT) die höchsten und schönsten Berge der Alpen. Im Vordergrund steht die Leidenschaft zum Para-Alpinismus, also die Verbindung von Paragleiten mit Klettern und Hochtouren.
NOVA Mitarbeiter Luis Depping (R&D Gurtzeuge) und Paul Nagl (Service, Quality Assurance) sind selbst leidenschaftlich gerne in den Bergen unterwegs. Als NOVA seine Produktpalette um die zwei leichten Bergschirme DOUBLESKIN (https://www.nova.eu/de/gleitschirme/doubleskin/) und BANTAM (https://www.nova.eu/de/gleitschirme/bantam/) erweiterte und motivierte Alpinisten aktiv auf NOVA zugingen, entstand die Idee zur Gründung des Climb and Fly Teams.
