Mạo hiểm thả mình từ độ cao gần 600 m, màn tranh tài dù lượn ở Đà Nẵng hứa hẹn sẽ mang lại cho du khách và người dân đam mê môn thể thao này những pha trình diễn ấn tượng.
Nằm trong chuỗi các sự kiện "Điểm hẹn mùa hè 2014", Sở Văn hóa Thể thao và Du lịch Đà Nẵng phối hợp cùng các câu lạc bộ Dù lượn tổ chức giải Dù lượn Đà Nẵng nhằm thúc đẩy sự phát triển bộ môn này ở Việt Nam, đồng thời là cơ hội để vận động viên trên cả nước giao lưu và trao đổi kinh nghiệm. Đây là một trong những sự kiện văn hóa thể thao, du lịch được tổ chức thường niên.
Cuộc tranh tài dù lượn bắt đầu từ ngày 27 đến 29/6 tại bán đảo Sơn Trà. Theo ban tổ chức, các đội sẽ thi đấu ở độ cao điểm cất cánh là 580 m, với số vòng tối đa là 7 vòng, tối thiểu một vòng. Hiện đã có hơn 40 vận động viên đăng ký tham gia tranh tài từ các câu lạc bộ dù lượn ở TP HCM, Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, Khánh Hòa. Môn thể thao này hứa hẹn sẽ mang lại cho du khách những pha trình diễn ấn tượng do các vận động viên dù lượn chuyên nghiệp trình diễn.
Trong chuỗi sự kiện Điểm hẹn Đà Nẵng 2014, còn có nhiều hoạt động khác như biểu diễn Aerobic, khiêu vũ đường phố, chèo thuyền Kayak trên sông Hàn... mang lại cho du khách và người dân địa phương những giây phút thư giãn, giải trí ấn tượng.
Ngoài ra, một không gian ẩm thực đặc sắc trong khuôn khổ Hội thi đầu bếp giỏi Đà Nẵng chiều 19/6 do các đầu bếp chuyên nghiệp tại Đà Nẵng, Huế, Quảng Nam tham gia sẽ mang đến lễ hội văn hóa ẩm thực đặc trưng vùng miền.
"Sự kiện này được kỳ vọng sẽ thúc đẩy việc hoàn thiện và quảng bá các sản phẩm du lịch biển của thành phố và góp phần đưa Đà Nẵng trở thành thành phố sự kiện gắn với du lịch", đại diện Sở Văn hóa Thể thao và Du lịch Đà Nẵng cho biết.

I picked an airfield that wasn't too far away from home in case I got into trouble, but it turned out to be pretty strong when I arrived. So, I set myself a few little tasks to re-acquaint myself with handling in in stronger winds (gradually)...check out my attempt at slaloms, weight shift, the invention of a new game, and some unusual strong wind kill techniques!

What difference does it make if a glider is short or tall? We decided to find out by making some extensions for the RoadRunner and going out and testing it.
Results are... interesting! It feels more docile and things take a little while to happen, so that's nice. It's also nearly impossible to fly as it feels mega weird and the pendulum effect screws with your brain.

I had the opportunity to come to a talk by Tim Swait, the new owner of Avian hang gliders, currently the only hang glider manufacturer in the UK.
Tim goes through his background and how he got here, as well as the twist and turns of hang gliding. From humble beginnings at the start of the manned aviation history, all the way to high performance flying machines of the present day.
I found the talk super interesting and learned a thing or to so I hope you enjoy it too.
