We're still getting to know our new area, but when there's a North wind, it comes on silky smooth at Praia do Norte and it's perfect for playing around, so that's what we did :)

We went to Gralha, our local hill and the wind was spot on and it was full of people, so was the perfect opportunity to try the BGD Lynx.

Originally developed for the Redbull X-Alps in 2017 with the BGD Cure as a base the Lynx evolved to as the stand alone wing of today. It uses light materials and minimalist design to keep it light. High aspect ratio and thin profile make it super slick gliding through the air, meaning it is fast!

I was quite cautious as I like to progressively get to know a wing or piece of equipment but first impressions are very nice indeed.

Gemma did a stellar job on this one capturing images from different angles :)

Bough this old hand plane for 5£ and it was in a bit of a sorry state so spent a couple of hours bringing it back to workable/usable condition.

The wooden parts were easy to fix but the metal work took longer. I always get surprised how much better things get just by cleaning them.

I used Paul Sellers method and video to restoring this hand plane.

This water pump has been sitting above a well for many many decades. When we moved in 20+ years ago it was already very rusted and in bad shape, but it still could pump, just.

One day the handle broke, and there it sat, unturned for about 10 years.

Every time I visit my dad I don't have time to do much as time is short, but on this occasion tried to fix it.

The biggest problem were the valves, and I made new ones using a tractor's inner tube.

Last night on Great British Bake Off (a popular TV program) they made Pasteis de Nata, a traditional Portuguese custard tart.

One of Gemma's friends challenged me to do it and I too her on... oh boy... a bit harder than I expected.

Was a bit late to start with, then was missing the tins to cook them in. It was a mess and really difficult to shoot and bake at the same time!

Was a big night last night and the day didn't start great.
Croaky voice and went to fly Bradwell, only to get there and realise I forgot the osmo clamp!

Managed to make it to the gliding club and back in some angry looking sky and this time visualized in a different way using doarama.

I've been wanting to do a sign for the workshop and today was the day.

It didn't quite turn out as I'd like but it was a good experiment and I can always change it in the future.

I made it mostly out of plywood, wood glue, screws and nails. Goes together like a sandwich so I can take it apart in the future.

In my first workshop video I built a cheap table saw. I bought a second hand radial saw and jig saw together for £7.5GBP which works out around 5$ for each!

All the wood was reclaimed wood from scrap or people that have given me wood that was going to be thrown away. A lot of this wood also had nails and screws in it to I took them off and kept them, and all the screws used on this project were reclaimed too.

The table saw is a simple design and only depth adjustable. next I'll build a fence so that it can be used safely.

I've knitted when I was a kid and my grandma all her life, so when I saw some cheap funky yarn at the store decided to give it a go.

It's was really fun, one single line and lots of loops, 2 knots and not cuts or trickery :)
