Making the jump from paper to cloth is not easy! From handling the sewing machine, to chosing the cloth, line, all the settings, the design, patterns and then bringing it all together... I'm glad we chose an easy project to start with :)

A lot of fun, some experimentation and quite a bit of learning. We mostly learnt that we don't know a lot of stuff! :D

Couldn't find a better name but it felt like too much stuff happened on this video!

Gemma groundhandles and finally flies but also gets attacked by dogs! I try a new simplified camera setup for dune soaring. First flight of the new year and we meet a channel subscriber. We try Piggy back groundhandling. I do some high-speed runs on the Seed and we investigate a massive rock fall from the air!

It is finally Day 1 of Gemma's new job! She passed the interview process :P and today was assessment day to see where she is so we have a baseline to go forward and improve.

Passive chasecams wobble quite a bit and 3axis gimbals are a bit too expensive and fragile so I thought I would build a prototype of a chasecam that would be mechanically stabilized using an IMU and some servos connected to control surfaces whilst still being rugged.

Worked kind of ok but to test it I would need to build one lighter, with a lot more drag and perhaps software that is more easily customizable. Still fun though :)

Gemma and me have taken on the project of restoring a 1940's highchair (why isn't it called a baby chair?) for a friend.

It was very beaten up but had a great look and design to it so we thought it would be nice to try to bring it back.

I was only through the days and days of work that we poured into it that we realized what we really got ourselves into.

It involved stripping all the paint and going back to bare metal on most of the parts. then disassembling it as much as possible to get at all the hard to reach places. Then we thought that the upholstery also needed a lot of attention so we started from scratch and created our own cushions.

In in end it went together rather well and I'm really please with the result but now really need a smaller project for the next one!

I've played a few different paragliding games before and always found the problem of what controls you use. Mouse and Keyboard aren't great. It's kind of similar to a flight sim or car racing game, you need a joystick or racing wheel really.

So, I decided to design and make my own. I had various concepts but ended up going for sliding potentiometer because they are cheap compact and readily available.

From those I designed my case around it, with a few features to make it more durable, and easy to use, and it turned out quite nice, looks like a product you could buy in a store!

It uses a bunch of potentiometers, buttons and toggles and an arduino pro micro. The wiring is very simple as is the code. If you're interested in building your own I'll have the 3D printable cad files on Patreon as well as the code for the arduino. If there is enough demand I could make these available to buy in the future.

I've had a chance to borrow a BDG Seed to try out (thanks Mario!) and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do a different video.

Groundhandling is for paragliding like sparring is for boxing. The Seed is rougly a half size wing and super super fun to throw around the park and have fun. Groundhanlding wings help you develop crucial skills to make our takeoffs, landings and flying in general much safer.

It was a lot of fun to shoot and not so fun to edit, but in the end I'm really happy how it came out.

We finally got to fly Minde and what a great experience it was to get back to flying proper thermals.
It was Gemma's first experience, a little bumpy, but she did great and got really high!

What a weird day! The wing was very light and the waves were mega tall, throwing see froth everywhere!

Luckily a couple of wings arrived from BGD so we could do a quick test, and it turns out they are all equally hard to groundhandle in light wind, useful hey!?

In any case, another good session in for Gemma and little moments of brilliance and control are coming through and I think she's getting really used to it. Tomorrow looks very windy though!

Bough this old hand plane for 5£ and it was in a bit of a sorry state so spent a couple of hours bringing it back to workable/usable condition.

The wooden parts were easy to fix but the metal work took longer. I always get surprised how much better things get just by cleaning them.

I used Paul Sellers method and video to restoring this hand plane.

Gemma wanted to get more comfortable with her glider and exploriong the stall point and beyond. So we decided to do a Micro SIV at our favourite dune, always keeping it conservative and one small step at a time.

By the end of it she was getting quite comfortable with stalls and doing them from quite high.
If you chose to try something like this yourself remember to do loads and loads and LOADS of groundhandling first and only do it if you feel you have a super safe location to do it. We do not recommend anyone else doing this.
