David from BGD had a demo Lynx (High EN-C Paraglider) that I could borrow and test fly and since he lives in a beautiful part of the country we decided to do a little day trip to get to know more about it.

We got a lot more that what we bargained for as the scenery was breathtaking and the mountain air intoxicating.

Both me and Gemma decided not to fly based on info from the local pilots on the site and conditions but it was a great experience none the less.

As Gemma and I were debating when groundhandling becomes flight we came up with a test.
If you can't stay up, you're below the flight line, if you can, you are above it.

We did a series of hops, off a little hill, higher and higher each time and tried my best to stay up at all costs. It's a super fun exercise, helps you feel lift better and how different parts of the terrain shape the air.

This imaginary line varies with a few factors, like pilot experience, wing, terrain, and wind conditions.

Since I've knitted a hat by hand I've been fascinated with the hand crank knitting machines (Addi style) that you find on youtube tutorials.

So as a bit of fun I decided to try to design my own. This quickly turned into a full blown R&D project and consumed a lot of time and resources.

It was really fun to figure it all out even though in the end it didn't quite fully work.

I'll revisit it in the future when I have some more time as I have a couple of ideas on how to not only make it work but maybe improve the current state-of-the art :)

*Disclaimer, I don't recommend anyone flying uncertified wings*

I love the BGD Seed. It's a scaled down Epic and was designed as a groundhandling wing but built well like any other BGD wing.

So, since I've groundhandled it for over 100 hours and in that time had the chance to have little hops that turned into little flights getting progressively bigger, as the wind was right I thought it was good opportunity to try and actually soar it.

I've done it before, but not on camera, and because it's small and the lines are short, it is super agile. Flies fast (I'm 90kg and it is 14sqmt) and rolls and dives a lot when turning, even with very light input, making it mega fun to fly.

It was quite easy to top land with it. It carries a lot of energy through the turn, meaning you will lose height when it dives to turn but you do recover most of it as you come out of the turn.

I've landed it before in near nil wind and it flares fine, and on this day there was a lot more wind that than so landing was super smooth and pretty much came down vertical.

All in all a really fun experience! Might need to get a proper speed wing :)

Jack let me try his acro glider and it was awesome, just a shame it was too small for me to fly!

It's an Advance Omikron 17 I believe and the thing that catches your eye (and hands) straight away is how heave duty everything is. The risers are big and padded, the lines are thick, the cloth is heavy and even though the wing itself is very small it is miles away! and that really influences how it feel when groundhandling as the energy/inertia builds really quickly.

If you have the chance to try different wings in a safe way I really recommend it :)

Just a few days before Ozone announced the new Geo 6 we were out trying the older brother, the Geo 5 (thanks Matt!), and we were lucky enough to have a strong wind day at Gralha!
Not really a review video but more of an overview of what it's like to fly the wing. It feels super solid and very resistant to collapses which is great for beginners. It has a very long brake travel and tons of pressure at the bottom end.

Really fun to fly new wings from As to Ds :)

Got to fly with Gemma again! This is becoming a common occurrence :)

The conditions weren't great though, wind was quite strong and quite cross too but we managed to make the most of it for an hour or so.
With strong wind the "shape" of the hill "changes". Parts that weren't accessible become lifty and others become no-go areas, so it's like a new different landscape to explore :)

Really enjoyed this one and glad to be back on the ParaVlogs! After a first flight where the glide over the lake didn't connect with thermals on the other side I was close to calling it a day but managed to get a quick lift back up and fly again.

It wasn't the longest or furthest flight but it was one of the nicest I've had lately and the views were just stunning. Low cloudbase and punchy thermals with a hint of overdevelopment.

Can't wait to go back :)

SkyBean were nice enough to send us one of their chase cams that I've been wanting to fly for quite a while, so now that we have the new DJI Osmo Action the timing was perfect.

It was quite easy to put together and fly, I thought it would be more of a handful but then again, the conditions where particularly nice.
