I've been wanting to play with the acoustics art for a while. Today was the day that I started, but it didn't go to plan at all.

The idea was to have a constant stream of paint falling on a piece of paper and as the paint goes past a playing speaker the paint gets defected, in effect going around in a spiral osciloscopic type deal.

It didn't work because:
- It was difficult to get the pain down the tube
- the paper would get drenched
- the end of the tube would be too far away from the paper
- the speaker wouldn't move the paint enough
- i couldn't draw a perfect spiral with the weight
- etc etc etc

It was really fun to try to figure this stuff out and hope to revisit it again in the future.

Gemma took to the skies at the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club on a beautiful Autumn afternoon. The sky was booming and thermals were abundant.

40 minutes later she touched down and found out that although the views were amazing, her stomach wasn't too happy and that the controls were a lot more sensitive than what she anticipated.

More practice needed!

When the wind is light, it's always tricky to know when/if to push to takeoff or if you're better off waiting.
Because we don't have thermals where we fly I like to use the wing as my own wind meter.

This is because putting the wing up above your head you get an instant feel to how much tension there is on the lines, and you can guess if you'll be able to stay aloft or not.

I find this method to be more reliable than a pure windspeed meter (anemometer) because most meters will tell you average wind speed but only magnitude, no direction. Meaning with 30km/h wind you can have zero lift if the wind is coming in horizontal, or you can have loads of lift if the wind has a strong vertical component, so best way I find is to put the wing up and have a feel.

In this video I had to wait quite a bit for the wind to pick up and the flyable was quite narrow, but in the end paid off. Also if you're having fun on takeoff anyway waiting time goes by faster :)

I made it mostly out of plywood, wood glue, screws and nails. Goes together like a sandwich so I can take it apart in the future.

Think of it like a mix between Movember and the Ice bucket challenge, with the purpose of having more fun groundhandling and staying safer when flying.

It's a series of exercises from very easy to very hard that everyone can follow along and participate.

It was a weird day and a lot of hard work but that's the way to learn it seems!
Woke up early to go stand in a rainy hill far away so ended up coming back to the peaks and flying Bradwell. Never quite got to cloudbase but spent some time honing the XC skills and trying to make the best of when things don't go your way.

I've always wanted to try make fire in case of a survival situation arose but I wasn't expecting it to be this hard!

I tried a lot of different woods and even a drill and nothing. If you have any ideas of how I can make this work let me know because I want to come back to it.

This was a lot of fun and probably the last flying day of the month.

Found Ash at the bottom of Lord's Seat in the Peak district and we went up to the lower launch.

Flew to the upper take off as it has a big top landing area and did various challenges of landing on the spot or just missing the edge of the hill.

A lot of fun and great to see that other pilots got involved!

Hopefully it will be useful for someone.

Finally got to try some stop motion animation!

This is the story of Jasper the cat, which had a great life until a terrible accident happened. Obviously, after being depressed for a bit he comes back fighting to overcome his setbacks. In the end his new perspective on life take him beyond his wildest dreams.

It was really fun! It's interesting because some things take a long time to animate and other things are really quick to make, like a workshop or a cloud.

Interestingly enough it feels like this type of story telling works quite well for big and bold ideas because drawing/making something mundane takes the same amount of time than creating something crazy and imaginative.

From start to finish, with the help of Gemma we managed to script, storyboard, make all the cut-outs, set and light the scene, take all the pictures, import into edit, chose all the music and sounds and edit it all together, export, and upload in under 5 hours.

Could easily improve it but for a first attempt and in such a short period of time I'm quite happy at our little story :D

I've been wanting to design a logo that brings together all the things I like to do.

I've sketched a few different concepts on paper around the idea a flight and making stuff.

Then I drew it in Solidworks with exact measurements so that I can recreate anytime from scratch. from there it was onto Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to make it usable.

I don't consider it finished but hopefully it will come in useful for future videos.

I had the problem of always making a mess in the kitchen when cutting bread slices.

So I decided to make this bespoke bread cutting board. With some extra features like a sliding closing lid and also the top of the board is a cutting board itself so it can be used as a cutting board for other things like cheese and other fillings :)

Made 100% from reclaimed wood.

My cousin is a music producer and we've been talking about building our own set of speakers for a while now. He understands the sound side and I like the building side.

It was a lot of work because of all the setup and figuring out but it was a great thing to try. I would change a few things if I did it again and once I was happy with the design I would probably build a few sets at once to make it more time efficient.
