Classic yearly tradition of carving up some pumpkins. I always feel silly carving something that is "spooky" or "scary" so I ended up turning it into an engineering project! ahah.

I think they turned out ok :) not brilliant but not terrible either. It's funny how even a poorly carved pumpkin look much better when you yurn the lights of and light a candle inside :)

Today was hard! It was way too windy for Plan A so I ended up having to scramble and do Plan B.

Went out to the Peak district as it was very windy and the clouds where going by fast! This meant that filming them was quite hard too because my tripod is very flimsy.

Really really need a decent tripod sturdy tripod.

It's amazing the Little Worlds you can find in your back garden.

Today I woke up early and shot in the garden for about 2 hours. The sun kept going in and out of cloud so it was quite tricky at times. In the end it was really enjoyable and the edit came together quite quickly.

I took over 100 shots in a very small back garden inside a city.

Certain things look really alien if you look close enough.

Over the weekend my cousin and his girlfriend came to visit us and at the same time storm Leslie blew past Portugal. It wasn't as bad as expected but the next day was still really windy so we went to see the legendary big waves of Nazare. Nice day out :)

My uncle Carlos makes masks out of wood and doesn't have a way to clamp the odd shaped blanks so I thought I'd make a custom vise for him.

I used readily available parts such as threaded rod, nuts and plywood.

In a future video I'll be building the vise itself.

In my first workshop video I built a cheap table saw. I bought a second hand radial saw and jig saw together for £7.5GBP which works out around 5$ for each!

All the wood was reclaimed wood from scrap or people that have given me wood that was going to be thrown away. A lot of this wood also had nails and screws in it to I took them off and kept them, and all the screws used on this project were reclaimed too.

The table saw is a simple design and only depth adjustable. next I'll build a fence so that it can be used safely.

My friend gave me this massive salt stone from a mine in Spain and it had been kicking around the house for quite a few months.

I didn't know what to do with it or where to put to so I thought I'd shoot a timelapse of it dissolving in water.

It creates some really interesting shapes as it dissolves and you can see the micro currents that the differences in salinity and density create.

Now that the bad weather is gone we managed to get out and the day and wind was perfect for testing the joystick prototype. Medium/strong and pretty steady, so quite good for the Seed.

I started by stetting up the bag weight and attaching the pulleys and wing. Launched it just as is to make sure everything was working.

Then I set up the joystick itself, at the correct distance and ran the control lines to the brakes and A's.

After a few problems with geometry and mostly crappy pulleys it was up and working and I couldn't believe it! Really happy to have been able to turn an idea into a working prototype and I'm already thinking about how to make it better, learn more and use it as a stepping stone for bigger projects :)

I got a new tripod yesterday and so I thought I'd give it a try in very windy conditions and in a street photography type of situation.

It's a Manfrotto travel tripod but it's surprisingly sturdy. It was very windy though and I was using a long lens for most of the time.

All in all I really like it and for sure the video quality will improve in the future :)

As paraglider pilots, we've all been feeling how hard it is to stay at home all this time, so we though that our first flight back after lockdown has been lifted would be very special.

Well, turns our it was very special indeed. Flew together with Gemma, the day was beautiful and the lift was strong, making flying easy and the views amazing.
