Groundhandling Principles with a Kite Day 25 - 30 Day Youtube Challenge - BANDARRA
I've been flying kites for longer than I've been flying paragliders, so after a while I started to notice the similarities between the two.
This is particularly true for how a paraglider behaves when groundhandling. How you need the wing to deflect air up to stay on the ground and how it needs to defect air down if you want it to go up.
Also we have a usable "quarter sphere" of play where we are at the center and the lines are the radius of the sphere. The glider or kite fly in the very surface of such a sphere.
Also when you are are the side edges of this quarter sphere, if your reading edge is aligned with the edge of the sphere it will just stay in the same place.
If there is a positive or negative angle between those two edges then the wing/kite will go up or down. This is the exact method of how a cobra launch works.
