We hiked up to the Seiser Alm with our Red Bull X-Alps athlete Tobi Grossrubatscher (Team: ITA2) and asked a few things about this years race and how he got into paragliding. 2019 will be Tobis second X-Alps appearance. Tobi enjoys travelling with his supporters and gathering new experience during the race.

We spent the day with our Red Bull X-Alps athlete Adrian Keller (Team: SUI3) at his home spot, the Emmental in Switzerland.
Adrian has been flying for 24 years now and brings a lot of experience to the race.
We'll see if the experience gives him advantage in the race.

With the skywalk AGILITY SYSTEM you can switch between the two brake line geometries “Comfort-Mode” and “Sport-Mode”. The MESCAL6 reacts differently to brake input:
In “Comfort-Mode” the MESCAL6 is the perfect flight school glider. The brakes accentuate the center of the wing: Brake input is directly applied and the canopy turns flatter – perfect for flights on training slopes and the first mountain flights. Student pilots can concentrate fully on the unknown medium of air.
In "Sport-Mode” the handling becomes more lively and agile. The brakes accentuate the outer wing: the glider banks higher, the control pressure in the effective range is lower and you can optimize your bank angle in every position while turning – experienced pilots fly high wingovers with ease. The conversion between the two modes takes only a few minutes and can easily be done by the pilot without any tools.

In celebration of the 10th edition of the Red Bull X-Alps, we are releasing our ultralight competition harness RANGE X-ALPS2 in a limited color edition "Steel Blue".
The series comes with a sewn-in woven label in the back storage compartment and is restricted to 150 pieces only. Each piece comes with its own number from #001 to #150 which makes it a true collectible.

Regardless of whether the MESCAL6 is flown in "Comfort Mode" or "Sport Mode", the brakes respond smoothly in the ideal working range for beginners and leisure pilots. The control pressure increases progressively as the brake lines are pulled. The glider is well damped, but gives so much feedback that the pilot feels everything happening in the air. Control impulses are converted directly, making the glider fun to fly long after training.
Due to the well-balanced flight characteristics, the climb behavior is very forgiving, which makes it easy for the pilot to circle even in demanding conditions. The glider is very easy to control in thermals. Typical for the MESCAL series, the glide performance is outstanding for its class!

We had a nice afternoon hiking and flying with our Red Bull X-Alps athlete Paul Guschlbauer (Team: AUT1) in Wagrain, Kleinarl.
Wagrain is one of the sponsors, prologue host and turnpoints for this years race.
2019 will be Pauls fifth X-Alps appearance (!). He already has three 3rd places under his belt. In 2018 Paul flew from Alaska (North America) all the way down to Patagonia (South America) with his small bush plane and only had half a year of intense training and preparation for this years Red Bull X-Alps.
Let's see how it goes! All the best for Paul.
